MARCH 23-24, 2022 | DILG MIMAROPA Regional Director Wilhelm M. Suyko and Project Development Unit (PDMU) Chief Lorenzo F. Suarez, together with DILG Palawan Provincial Director Virgilio L. Tagle, led the inspection and monitoring of five (5) Local Government Support Fund (LGSF)-funded projects in the Province of Palawan.

MUNICIPALITY OF ROXAS

On March 23, DILG MIMAROPA met with Mayor Dennis M. Sabando and Administrator Vic A. Lagera of the Municipality of Roxas to discuss the status of the rehabilitation and recovery efforts of the Municipality after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. The LCEs were also advised to urgently submit the necessary documentations to ensure that the Municipality will be an eligible recipient of the Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Assistance Program.

Following the consultation, DILG MIMAROPA visited three (3) on-going Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) projects granted to the Municipality of Roxas.

The construction of the 1-storey classroom school building in Dumarao National High School located in Brgy. Dumarao, Roxas has an allocated fund of P1,500,000.00 and will be completed on April 2022.

Also nearing its completion are the Construction of Birthing Clinic and the Concreting of the Farm to Market Road in Brgy. Abaroan, Roxas. With an allocated fund of P2,000,000.00 and P13,500,000.00 respectively, the target date of completion of said projects is also within the second quarter of 2022. Barangay Captain Henry Cacatian assisted the Department during the project monitoring and consulted with RD Suyko, PD Tagle, and Chief Suarez their concerns regarding the location and status of the SBDP-funded projects in their barangay.

Also present in the project monitoring in the Municipality of Roxas are MLGOO Ann Marie Salvie H. Ylagan, DILG Palawan Provincial Office Engineers Vernon Glenn Ferrer, James Jay Proelss, Jr., Franz Jay Kampitan, and Engineer Rhema Lyka Doydora of the Provincial Engineers Office.

 

MUNICIPALITY OF NARRA

On March 24, prior to the conduct of project monitoring, PD Tagle and Chief Suarez paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Gerandy B. Danao of the Municipality of Narra to provide guidance regarding the process of requesting fund for the construction of infrastructure projects under the LGSF.

The Department visited the 2020 Assistance to Municipalities (AM)-funded local access road project in Brgy. Bato-Bato, Narra. The 0.45km project was completed on December 2021 and has an allocated fund of P4,060,000.00.

Assisting in the project monitoring are Building Inspector Nerissa Joy S. Magada, Engineering Assistant Bernardo B. Sarabia, and Engineer Jehu C. Ramos of the Municipality of Narra.

 

MUNICIPALITY OF ABORLAN

Also on March 24, DILG MIMAROPA paid a courtesy visit as well to Mayor Celsa B. Adier of the Municipality of Aborlan, wherein Chief Suarez provided guidance to the Accounting staffs of the Municipality regarding financial matters on the granted projects to the locality.

The Department also advised Municipal Mayor Adier to utilize the LGSF in order to further improve the infrastructures in the Municipality.

Following the LCE consultation, PD Tagle and Chief Suarez proceeded to conduct monitoring on the Elevated Tank which was constructed under the 2019 SALINTUBIG program. The project covers Brgy. Apoc-apoc, Brgy. Mabini, and Brgy. Magsaysay, Aborlan, and has an allocated fund of P11,700,000.00.

“We are pleased to see firsthand that the Department was able to contribute greatly to the growth and prospering of the Province of Palawan through these LGSF-funded projects. DILG MIMAROPA have worked closely with our diligent LGUs throughout the whole process of implementing these projects, and it is very heartwarming to see these projects benefit our citizens,” said RD Suyko during his project monitoring in the province.
