Pursuant to Resolution No. 12, series of 2020, Regional Inter-Agency task Force (RIATF) MIMAROPA for COVID-19, concurred with Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor’s appeal to impose Modified Enhance Community Quarantine (MECQ) in Calapan City, due to the surge in the number of COVID-19 cases in the City, effective August 13-26, 2020.

In a letter from Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor addressed RIATF Chairperson and DILG MIMAROPA Regional Director Wilhelm Suyko, the 14-day stricter quarantine measure will enable the LGU to conduct widespread contact tracing and isolate the people who may have been exposed to the COVID-19 patients.

As of August 10, 2020, Calapan City Mayor Arnan Panaligan noted that a total of 42 COVID-19 positive cases were recorded in a single day, outnumbering the current COVID-19 cases in the entire Province of Oriental Mindoro.

The 42 new COVID-19 cases bring a total number of 57 cases in the Province as of August 10, 2020.
