DILG MIMAROPA Regional Director Karl Caesar Rimando, CESO III together with Assistant Regional Director Rey Maranan, CESO IV, DILG Palawan Provincial Director Virgilio Tagle and Puerto Princesa City Director Eufracio Forones, Jr. graced the Inauguration Ceremony of the city’s Balay Silangan Reformation Center in Brgy. Sta. Lourdes on Friday, February 23.
The activity highlighted the ribbon cutting, blessing, unveiling of the Bahay Silangan marker and the signing of the manifesto of commitment.
Balay Silangan was conceptualized through the model of BAHAY PAGBABAGO, a facility designed for surrendered drug personalities where they are given intervention, counseling, and livelihood with the end view of helping them to become more productive and law-abiding citizen once they are reintroduced/reintegrated to their community. It also serves as an alternative intervention for drug personalities who are not eligible to be administered in a DOH supervised treatment and rehabilitation facilities.
In his inspirational message, Director Rimando expressed his support and lauded the city government and the PDEA for spearheading the program.
“Ang DILG ay nakikiisa sa layunin at mga programa ng lokal na pamahalaan at mga NGAs tulad ng PDEA upang maitaguyod ang pagbabago at pagrereporma sa mga indibidwal na nasangkot sa pagbebenta ng ilegal na droga o mga pushers,” Director Rimando said.
Also present during the activity were PDEA MIMAROPA Regional Director Christian Frivaldo, City Administrator Atty. Arnel Pedrosa, City Prosecutor Atty. Carmelina Guevarra, department heads and Barangay Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) chairpersons.
