The MIMAROPA Local Governance Regional Resource Center led by DILG MIMAROPA Asst. Regional Director and LGRC Manager Rey S. Maranan, CESO IV, conducted a module development workshop with the UP School of Urban and Regional Planning headed by Dean Dina C. Magnaye, PhD, EnP on February 13, 2025 at the DILG MIMAROPA Regional Office.
The activity was the continuation of the timely and relevant partnership between the MIMAROPA LGRC Capacity Development Facility and UP SURP Office of Training and Extension Services (OTES) to implement evidence-based and tailor-fit local development planning interventions for all MIMAROPA LGUs.
A comprehensive analysis of the Training Needs Assessment was presented by the UP SURP OTES while the result of the 2024 Capacity Development Analytics was presented by the MIMAROPA LGRC. Both inputs were utilzed in designing the courses and modules to be offered this year.
Various insights during the knowledge sharing session were gathered which highlighted the need to provide continuing professional development for the members of the Local Development Council, involve the academe in the analysis, implementation, and evaluation of such interventions, and further examine the current local development planning process.
The long-term initiative is only one of the MIMAROPA LGRC’s efforts in mainstreaming data-driven capacity development provision and strengthening the CapDev Ecosystem in the region.
