We are long past the point of seeing mobile devices as revolutionary or groundbreaking. By now, they are part of the fabric of our everyday lives.

That being said and as part of the government’s initiative in using digital platforms among citizen engagement in improving public service delivery, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has developed Development LIVE or DevLIVE – an android-based mobile application that enables citizens to submit satisfaction feedbacks on the quality and implementation of locally funded projects, DevLIVE brings engagement and participation directly to the citizens.

Key features of DevLIVE

By registering on the application, citizens are able to locate the nearest Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM) and Assistance to Municipalities (AM) projects. It can also generate and submit reports with geotagged photographs. An offline reporting mode is also provided to enable the remote and disadvantaged areas complete their reports which will be synched to the system automatically once the citizen connects to the internet.

With  such innovation, the system can also raise public awareness on various program and projects implemented by the government. DevLIVE being regarded as a 24-hour surveillance system in monitoring ADM and AM projects can generate  feedback which will be used to its maximum potential to improve the overall and specific performance of public services.

“It is important that we consider the involvement of the public in the implementation of government projects. They are our assets and partners in the delivery of quality service”, said RD Florida Dijan.
