In celebration of Fire Prevention Month, the Department of the Interior and Local Government – MIMAROPA Region successfully conducted the SPARKS & FIRE: Strengthening Personnel’s Ability to Respond Knowledgeably to Smokes and Fire on March 10, 2025. πŸš’

The event was graced by Regional Director Karl Caesar R. Rimando, CESO III, who emphasized the importance of preparedness in preventing fire-related disasters. He reminded everyone that fire safety is not just a workplace responsibility but a shared duty within our communities. Meanwhile, Assistant Regional Director Rey S. Maranan, CESO IV, emphasized the significance of continuous learning and vigilance to ensure a safe environment for all.

With the expertise of our resource speakers from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)β€”FO1 Rey John S. Surtido (BFP Pinagkaisahan Station) and FO1 Gerald T. Tuliao (BFP Paligsahan Station)β€”participants gained valuable insights on:

βœ… Causes of Building Fires πŸ”₯
βœ… Fire Prevention Do’s and Don’ts πŸ›‘
βœ… DILG-MIMAROPA Office Fire Safety and Emergency Evacuation Plan 🚨

Adding to our fire preparedness efforts, a Fire Drill Simulation was successfully conducted on March 12, 2025, at exactly 10:00 AM. This drill tested the emergency evacuation plan of the DILG-MIMAROPA Office, ensuring that all personnel are well-equipped and ready to respond in case of a fire emergency.

Special thanks to Michael Casto A. Ras II, our Safety Officer, for leading the discussions on office fire safety and ensuring a smooth execution of the fire drill.

This Fire Prevention Month, let’s remember that awareness and preparedness save lives. By staying vigilant and practicing fire safety measures, we contribute to a safer workplace and community.
