Third termer Palawan Governor Jose Ch. Alvarez was named as the new chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) MIMAROPA Region during its fourth quarter meeting, November 20, 2019.

With the new set of chairmanship, Alvarez vowed to support the advocacy of the council to promote a peaceful and orderly Region through rigorous inter-agency collaboration.

“We hope to contribute greatly in the whole of nation approach in order to finally eliminate, eradicate, and end the communist insurgency in the country,” said Alvarez.

Governor Alvarez replaced then-Oriental Mindoro Governor and now Representative Alfonzo V. Umali Jr.

“As the president ends his term in 2022 we are hoping that not only we continue to enjoy this kind of economy but the prosperity that is coupled with security. Because economic prosperity without security is less acceptable than total security plus economic prosperity,”  he added.

During the quarterly forum, the council managed to pass four resolutions that include:

  1. Reorganization of the RPOC;
  2. Nomination of CSO Representatives;
  3. Support to the Disiplina Muna National Advocacy Campaign; and
  4. Establishment of the RTF-ELCAC Operation Center at 2ID-PA, Camp General Mateo Capinpin, Tanay, Rizal.

Through Resolution No. 09 series of 2019, the RPOC MIMAROPA re-organized members are:

Members: Mayors of Component City and Highly Urbanized City, LMP Presidents Provincial Chapter, SOLCOM Commander, and Regional Directors of DAR, DA, DEPED, DENR, DFA, DOH, DOJ, DPWH, DSWD, DTI, NCIP, NICA, OCD, PDEA, PIA, NBI, PMS, OPPAP, PPA, BFP, BJMP, CHED, CHR,  NEDA, NAPOLCOM, PCG, RTC-PPSC and three (3) representatives from the accredited CSOs in the region.
