To enhance the skills of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) MIMAROPA Region personnel and employees in written and visual communication, the region’s Local Governance Regional Resource Center (LGRRC) spearheaded a two-day virtual training entitled “Capture the New Normal: Orientation on Technical Writing and Documentation of Best Practices” last February 22-23, 2021.

The virtual training aimed to capacitate the participants to produce effective and accessible knowledge products for DILG’s clients and other relevant stakeholders to address the public’s growing need for reliable information amidst the pandemic.

Among the participants of the activity are the LGRRC members, Social Media Team, and City/Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (C/MLGOOs).

Ms. Krixia Subingsubing, a journalist from the Philippine Daily Inquirer, discussed the basics of technical writing covering basic writing concepts, technical formatting, and practical tips for news/feature writing.

With the ubiquitous access to social media among Filipinos, she also shared several etiquettes in using social media in posting updates and accomplishments of government agencies.

Meanwhile, Ms. Patricia Santos, Content Specialist of Canva Philippines, talked about Canva 101 and Design Basics. Her topic revolved around using the Canva application in designing and creating infographics.

The two-day training included workshops where participants were asked to write a news article and develop their own infographic.
